How do cities and places reposition themselves after disasters and how can organisations structure themselves around place for long-lasting resilient outcomes?
Join us on November the 23rd to hear from SALT District in Christchurch, New Zealand and Town of Victoria Park in Perth, Western Australia – two organisations that have used disruptive governance models to build a shared and sustainable identity and deliver places at a neighbourhood to neighbourhood scale.
Whilst one focuses on place-led social rebuild and the other on the whole of organisation response to place, both approaches will deliver rich insights into the mechanics and the principles that drive these disruptive governance models, including:
• The setup of trusts, alliances, charters, team structure, budgets, and the role of the place champion. • How to break down the silos to ensure everyone is responsible for delivering great outcomes and that disciplines, stakeholders and community are interlinked. • How to build a shared identity that respects the complexity of place • Identifying who is responsible for the ‘Place Glue’ and keeping the vision on track. • Exploring when to apply systems thinking vs linear thinking.

The Place Leadership webinar series contributes to the growing narrative in the private and government sectors in how to bring about a renewed sense of localism post COVID through thoughtful leadership and governance approaches to build and shape cities and urban places. The theme of the second series is to explore place-led models and approaches for urban recovery and development in complex stakeholder environments.
