PLACE LEADERSHIP WEBINAR SERIES 2020
Streets as Social and Economic Drivers for Local Recovery
About the Series
The Place Leadership webinar series contributes to the growing narrative in the private and government sectors in how to bring about a renewed sense of localism post COVID through thoughtful leadership and governance approaches to build and shape cities and urban places. The theme of the first series is the role of streets as social and economic drivers for local recovery.
Since UN-Habitat in 2013 recognised the potential of streets to contribute to city prosperity with the report - “ Streets as Public Spaces and Drivers of Urban Prosperity” – the role of the humble urban street has moved beyond the movement of vehicles to support local social and economic prosperity.
In Australia and around the world, city and state governments, communities and business owners are collaborating in new ways to reclaim, rebalance and sometimes re-purpose streets to build community resilience and support local businesses post COVID.
Join us in conversation with Place Leaders from Australia and around the world as they redefine the role of the Street as Social and Economic Drivers of Recovery and reimagining streets as public spaces that are safe, support social distancing, and attract people back into our towns and centres during COVID recovery.
