Membership Criteria & Benefits

 

 

 Criteria for Membership:

  • Full Members:
    • A public sector agency (including wholly-owned entities) and a mandate for urban renewal / place-focussed development that demonstrates the application of sustainable design and development practices; and
    • Is undertaking or managing major urban land development / renewal projects designed to attract significant number of residents, workers and / or visitors; or
    • Is undertaking or managing major urban land redevelopment / renewal projects that are of a regional, strategic or economic significance and that are by their nature complex in terms of issues such as heritage, remediation and risk.
  • Affiliate Members:
    • A place-related public or private sector organisation (with a focus in Australasia) involved in urban development / redevelopment or place management with an interest in public creation and place management.
    • A professtional organisation offering services / consultanct in a place-related field such as urban planning, landscape architecture, architecture or engineering.
    • An academic or research institution in the place-related field.

Benefits of Membership:

PLA members all face similar issues in regards to dealing with and managing their various stakeholders. PLA allows members to; 

  • Meet and discuss (both formally and informally) to share experiences/advice
  • Share up-to-date benchmarking data and templates, resulting in cost savings
  • Access research results from other member agencies
  • Draw upon specific expertise and documentation
  • Test and screen ideas
  • Draw on successful design and implementation processes
